Super League strugglers Wakefield Trinity Wildcats announce that coach James Webster has left the club.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed that coach James Webster has left the club with immediate effect.

The Wildcats currently sit at the bottom of the Super League table following 11 defeats from their first 13 games.

Their losing run in all competitions was extended to 13 matches on Sunday as they were beaten in the Challenge Cup by Championship leaders Leigh Centurions.

Webster, who took charge of the club in June 2014, recently admitted that his job was on the line after such a disappointing run.

"I felt now was the right time to allow someone else the opportunity to take the team forward," the 35-year-old told the club's official website. "In taking this decision my hope is it will allow the club to fulfil its goal and remain in Super League."

Stuart Dickens has been placed in caretaker charge of the Wildcats, who are back in Super League action on Sunday when they host Widnes Vikings.
