Warrington Wolves fend off a strong effort from Hull Kingston Rovers to claim a 32-24 victory in their Super League clash.

Warrington Wolves twice came from behind to defeat a spirited Hull Kingston Rovers side 32-24 in their Super League clash.

The visitors had a strong start to the game and took the lead when Josh Mantellato found space in the line to go over for the first try of the match in the seventh minute.

Warrington hit back with two scores within six minutes as Matthew Russell and Joel Monaghan found the try line, finishing incisive attacking moves from the hosts.

Joe Philbin handed Wolves command of the game when he powered over from close range, only for them to be pegged back before the break by Mantellato's second try of the game, which brought Hull within two points.

In the second half, the visitors retook the lead as Kevin Larroyer bundled himself over the line despite the best efforts of two tacklers from the home side.

However, Hull's lead lasted just three minutes as Russell broke free through the middle and passed to Gary Wheeler, who ensured that his side got the maximum by setting up an easy kick for Stefan Ratchford.

Russell himself put Warrington back in control of the game as he went over in the corner, but Hull kept themselves alive in the match with an immediate score from Graeme Horne.

Wolves finally managed to secure the win when Ben Currie raced away and managed to shake off the last man to go in for the try in the dying minutes.
