Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has insisted that he is proud of his side despite their defeat to Leeds Rhinos in Super League.
The Warriors missed the chance to leapfrog Leeds at the top of the table last night as they went down 25-18 at Headingley Carnegie.
However, Wane is happy with the effort and determination that his players showed during the encounter.
"I feel proud, I thought the effort was there. I'm just proud of the effort we showed," he told the club's official website. "Some players weren't fit enough to play today but they stuck their hands up.
"[Leeds] are a classy team and they throw a lot at you but I thought our defence was good. We defended tough at times."
Wigan have the chance to get back to winning ways on August 21 when they make the trip to Warrington Wolves.
