Castleford Tigers have secured their first win of the Super League season with an emphatic 42-14 win over Wigan Warriors this evening.
The home side were on the front foot from the start, attacking with pace in the opening 10 minutes to score a couple of early tries.
Justin Carney picked up his second of the night less than 15 minutes in after dodging a tackle from Josh Charnley before diving over in the corner.
Charnley got Wigan off the mark before the end of the first half though, and kept them in contention with another shortly after the restart.
However, Castleford upped the intensity again to run in three tries in 15 minutes, with Michael Shenton among the scorers, opening up a 38-point lead.
Matty Smith added a late consolation, but it was not enough for Wigan to avoid their second defeat of the season, which leaves them seventh in the table, just one spot ahead of Castleford.
