Bath flanker Francois Louw has been charged by the Rugby Football Union following an incident involving Courtney Lawes during his side's clash with Northampton Saints on Saturday.
The 30-year-old South African has been cited for allegedly making "contact with the eye(s) or eye area", which could result in a lengthy ban if he is found guilty.
Bath went on to lose the match 15-14 at Franklin's Gardens to leave them ninth in the Premiership table with just one game of the season remaining.
Louw will appear before a three-man disciplinary panel in Bristol on Thursday to determine his punishment for the alleged incident.
Bath take on Leicester Tigers in their final game of the campaign this weekend.
