Newport Gwent Dragons have been dealt a blow in Pool 3 of the Amlin Challenge Cup with a late 25-22 defeat to Bayonne in France.
Despite two Jacques-Louis Potgieter penalties for the hosts, a Lewis Evans try and an additional 11 points from the boot of Tom Prydie gave Newport a 16-6 lead at half time.
Prydie kicked over three more points soon after the restart before David Roumieu's score, converted by Potgieter, started a Bayonne revival.
The home side got themselves level on 66 minutes thanks to Sam Gerber's try, but Potgieter was unable to add the extras.
Newport then regained the lead with 11 minutes left to play through another Prydie penalty.
However, Mike Phillips went over in the 77th minute for the hosts to get them ahead by a point and Matthieu Ugalde made the conversion to complete the dramatic victory.
