British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland has claimed that his players were not smart enough during their defeat to Australia in Melbourne.
The tourists were narrowly beaten 16-15 on Saturday as the Wallabies drew level at 1-1 in the three-Test series.
"We were pretty comfortable at half time but they never give up and it went their way," Gatland told Sky Sports News. "We weren't smart enough and didn't look after the ball well enough."
The Lions and Australia will face each other in Sydney next Saturday in the series decider.
