England winger Christian Wade has been called up to the British & Irish Lions squad on their tour of Australia.
The 23-year-old, who plays his club rugby for London Wasps, is currently with England in Argentina but will join up with his new teammates on Monday.
"We have obviously got ongoing treatment of some players so it's prudent to make sure we have enough backline cover," said Lions coach Warren Gatland. "Christian played well in the first Test against Argentina and is match fit."
Wade's inclusion is understood to be due to a fear over the fitness of George North. The Welshman is currently struggling with a hamstring injury.
