Jonathan Davies says that the opportunity to win the European Rugby Champions Cup was partly behind his decision to join Clermont Auvergne last summer.
The Welsh centre left the Scarlets to sign for Les Jaunards and has formed a successful midfield partnership with French international Wesley Fofana, who scored the only try in Clermont's 13-9 semi-final win over Saracens.
Davies revealed that days like Saturday's victory in Saint-Etienne were his motivation to move away from Wales.
He is quoted by BBC Sport: "As a rugby player you want to play in front of big crowds and you want to win things, and the reason I came to Clermont was to win things.
"That was a big thing for me: Clermont were traditionally always up there competing for championships.
"So the opportunity for me to come here and play with some great players and be involved with a great club, I'm very lucky."
Clermont will face either Toulon or Leinster in the final.
