Clermont Auvergne have marked their final Pool 4 game in the Heineken Cup with a 28-3 victory over Racing Metro at Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin.
The French side, who had already sealed their progression to the quarter-final of the competition as pool winners, took a 14-3 half-time lead after Mike Delaney converted tries from both Lee Byrne and Gerhard Vosloo.
Some 20 minutes elapsed before either team added more points to the scoreboard in the second half, as Vosloo crossed for his second of the afternoon on the hour mark before Delaney added the conversion.
Another converted try soon followed, with Vincent Debaty touching down this time to establish a 25-point margin in the scoreline.
It proved to be the last action of the encounter as the hosts go into the last-eight stage with a morale-boosting win.
