England's current coaching team following post-World Cup departures

England may have enjoyed a successful World Cup by finishing runners-up to South Africa, but their coaching team led by Eddie Jones is in a state of flux. Here Press Association Sport examines the status of the back room staff in the wake of confirmation that Scott Wisemantel has left.

Eddie Jones – head coach

Contracted until 2021, the Rugby Football Union is keen to offer Jones a new deal lasting until the next World Cup after England reached the Yokohama showpiece. The team bombed against South Africa but Jones is undoubtedly the right man to lead the nation forward.

Steve Borthwick – forwards coach

Steve Borthwick has been linked with a move to Leicester, David Davies/PA

Borthwick is only member of the management staff permanently signed to the RFU but he has been strongly linked with a move to Leicester. Among the very best forward coaches in the game, Jones' number two is in demand and would be hard to replace.

John Mitchell – defence coach

John Mitchell (right) is to stay with England until 2021, David Davies/PA

Signed a new contract in June that sets his existing departure date alongside that of Jones – June 2021. The appointment of the former All Blacks boss initially raised a few eyebrows, but England's defence has excelled under his guidance.

Neal Hatley – scrum coach

Neal Hatley has joined Bath, Adam Davy/PA

Joined Bath as forwards coach upon his return to Japan after four years in the role. England's scrum was formidable on his watch, but was horribly exposed by the Springboks in the final.

Scott Wisemantel – attack coach

A superb addition to Jones' team who had an immediate impact upon his appointment for the 2018 tour to South Africa. The popular Australian – a part time school teacher – added new layers to England's attack and has been linked with the same role with the Wallabies.
