Alex Corbisiero tells Sports Mole that the back injury he picked up on the weekend should not rule him out of England's trip to France.

England prop Alex Corbisiero has said that he is hopeful his latest injury setback is 'nothing too serious'.

The 26-year-old was introduced for the final 20 minutes of the Red Rose's 19-14 victory over France on Saturday evening.

Boss Stuart Lancaster revealed on Monday that the Northampton Saints loosehead had picked up a knock, which led to suggestions that he may miss out on next weekend's return clash against France.

However, speaking to Sports Mole, Corbisiero brushed aside suggestions that his World Cup place may be in doubt.

"My back flared up a little bit, but it will hopefully settle down a bit over the next few days," he said. "It shouldn't been anything too serious."

Asked about his hopes of landing a place in Lancaster's final 31-man squad and running out for England at Twickenham in a month's time, the British & Irish Lion added: "It would mean everything to me.

"It would be the pinnacle of my career; the opportunity to represent my country, family, loved ones and all those who sacrificed something to help me get to where I am. To be in that position, running out on the field with that shirt on in front of the home crowd, that would certainly be the ultimate pinnacle of my career. But you have got to be realistic about the environment you are in.

"Some people are not going to make the cut and, as devastating as that is, you have just got to make sure that you give it your best shot to try and make the final 31. Even if you don't make the cut you then have to be ready and waiting if you are needed to be called upon."

Lancaster is due to name his squad for the trip to Paris later today, in the second of England's pre-World Cup internationals.
