Danny Cipriani determined to write his name in England folklore

England and Sale Sharks fly-half Danny Cipriani admits that he is "proud" of what he has achieved in his career to date, but is hopeful of pushing on to the next level.

Danny Cipriani has expressed his desire to reach the top of his game for both club and country following a memorable week.

The 27-year-old made a try-scoring comeback for England in last weekend's 47-17 victory over Italy, before turning down interest from Toulon to pen a new two-year deal at Sale Sharks.

He then went on to help Sale to a 14-10 win over Saracens yesterday, and Cipriani insists that there is still far more to come before he calls time on his career.

"I'm proud of what I'm achieving and credit to the coaches here who have pushed my case for England," the Daily Mail quotes the fly-half as saying. "It is exciting because I'm still trying to reach the top.

"The challenge when you're at the top is trying to stay there but I'm still fighting to get there and I've got that fire in my belly. There is no hesitation from me and I will not stop as I try and get there.

"I want to keep being involved in the England squad and will hopefully play in Dublin at the weekend. It's a challenge for me over the next six months building up to the World Cup, so I need to perform with any chance I get. I can't rest at all — I'll do that when I'm 38 and I retire."

Cipriani's Test appearance from the bench against Italy was his first at Twickenham since 2008.
