Danny Cipriani pens a new two-year deal at Sale Sharks, citing the club's young talent as the main reason behind his decision.

England fly-half Danny Cipriani has admitted that he is "really thrilled" to have penned a new two-year deal with Aviva Premiership side Sale Sharks.

The 27-year-old's contract was due to expire at the end of the season, which has seen his name linked with a move to French club Toulon in recent times.

Having now agreed fresh terms at the AJ Bell Stadium, joining Dan Braid in committing to the club this week, Cipriani is eager to help Sale push on in the coming months and years.

"One of the main reasons I signed the was that we've got a tight squad and it embraces new talent," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We've got some great young talent at the club with players like Mike Haley, Will Addison, Tommy Taylor, Ross Harrison and Josh Beaumont all having really come to the fore over the past year or so.

"It's also an environment that makes you feel very welcome so I'm really thrilled about signing the new deal and looking forward to the future."

Cipriani, who has previously played for Melbourne Rebels and Wasps, helped England on their way to a 47-17 victory over Italy in the Six Nations last weekend.
