England coach Graham Rowntree confident of New Zealand scalp

Graham Rowntree says that beating New Zealand for a second consecutive time on Saturday would be "a sizeable feather" in the England cap.

Forwards coach Graham Rowntree has no doubts that England can beat New Zealand for a second consecutive time on Saturday.

The All Blacks return to Twickenham at the weekend with revenge on their minds having lost to the Red Rose 38-21 back in December, which remains their only defeat since winning the 2011 World Cup.

Rowntree believes that it would be a real achievement if England can pull it off, but he is confident that the New Zealand pack is there for the taking.

"Yes, we believe so," Rowntree told BBC Sport. "But we'll be focusing on ourselves. We get ourselves up to the potential we can play at, and I'm sure we'll be a match for anyone.

"I know there is a lot to come from this England group, and they are super-excited about this game at the weekend.

"I'd say it would be quite a sizeable feather in our cap, to put it mildly, because they are the world champions and it's the ultimate challenge playing against these guys as a player. But I honestly feel it is within our reach."

England came from behind to beat Australia 20-13 earlier this month before earning a 31-12 win over Argentina on Saturday.
