New Zealand avenge last year's defeat at Twickenham by edging out England 30-22 in Saturday's QBE Autumn International.

New Zealand have avenged last year's defeat to England with an eight-point victory at Twickenham this afternoon.

The 38-21 loss suffered by the All Blacks in 2012 was their first since the 2011 Rugby World Cup, a record that still stands after today's encounter.

The All Blacks were ahead almost instantly when Kieran Read managed to offload on the left wing for Julian Savea to go over, with Dan Carter kicking the conversion.

Owen Farrell kicked England's first points soon after before Carter did the same to re-establish the seven-point lead.

Carter, who was making his 100th international appearance, would have to leave the game in anti-climatic fashion midway through the first half because of an injury.

Read turned scorer for New Zealand's second try by finding space on the right to drive over as New Zealand went 17-3 ahead after 18 minutes.

England appeared to go over for a try five minutes later from a strong drive but the incident was decided as inconclusive by the video referee.

The hosts were soon awarded a try after another try-line melee saw Joe Launchbury scramble the ball over.

As the first half drew to a close Farrell kicked two penalties to one from Carter's replacement Aaron Cruden as New Zealand went in with a four-point half-time lead.

Cruden then hit the post with the first penalty of the second period before Farrell sent two more kicks through the posts as England took the lead for the first time.

It didn't last long though as some New Zealand pressure resulted in a second try from Savea after a well-timed offload from Ma'a Nonu.

Cruden added another penalty to push the visitors' lead to eight and that was how it stayed as the final minutes on the clock were whittled away.

If New Zealand beat Ireland in next week's Test they will wrap up an unbeaten calendar year.
