Toby Flood admits that he was envious of the part that Owen Farrell played in England's Six Nations campaign.

Toby Flood has admitted that he was "annoyed and jealous" not to have played a big part in England's Six Nations campaign.

Flood suffered a knee injury prior to the tournament and was only deemed fit enough to make one short substitute appearance, leaving the Leicester man watching on as Owen Farrell helped England to second place.

"I can't pretend it's been ideal. Having an injury like that at the start of the Six Nations means you are always chasing your tail," Flood told The Daily Mail.

"I enjoyed seeing the guys developing and being around them in training. But the other half of me was very jealous because you want to be a part of what was going on and this new era that everyone's talking about.

"I'm content and laid-back about most things in life but I'm annoyed and jealous about not being involved. I'm not usually a jealous person, but having had the England No 10 shirt taken away from me there is a massive desire and hunger to get back involved."

Flood has played 46 times for England, racking up 223 points.
