England head coach Eddie Jones insists that his side are 'nowhere near their best yet'.

England head coach Eddie Jones has insisted that his side are "nowhere near" their best yet despite going unbeaten in 2016.

The Australian took charge of the national side at the end of last year and has had a memorable first 12 months in charge, including a historic 3-0 series victory in his homeland.

"I have a lot of pride," Jones told Sports Mole at the Pride of Sport Awards. "I'm very proud of the effort the players have put in.

"We can still improve - we're nowhere near our best yet. You've just got to focus on the next game, prepare as best you can and then you'll keep improving."

Jones also revealed that he believes his side have a "strong chance" of retaining the Six Nations trophy next year, adding: "We've got good opposition in the form of Ireland, Wales and France. They are all going to be difficult [games], but if we play to our ability then we've got a very good chance of winning."

England are now up to second in the world rankings at the end of 2016, just ahead of Australia and trailing New Zealand.
