England head coach Stuart Lancaster has refused to reveal who he will pick as his captain for the upcoming Autumn Internationals.
Harlequins flanker Chris Robshaw has skippered the side since January 2012, but it has been rumoured that Northampton Saints's Tom Wood will be given the armband.
Despite speculation over who will lead the team in the coming weeks, Lancaster insists that he will take his time over the decision.
"We have two big European weekends and I've consistently said you must select on form and fitness first. Injuries also play a part," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.
"Equally there's no need to announce a captain early when it might influence what you're thinking selection wise.
"If you name the captain early, then you're pretty much ruling out everybody else playing in that position and I want to keep competition for places high."
