Toby Flood has been released to Premiership side Leicester Tigers ahead of England's Six Nations match with Italy in Rome on Saturday.
The stand-off rejoined the England squad after recovering from an knee injury, but boss Stuart Lancaster has decided that Flood needs one more game before returning to the national side fully.
Fly-half Charlie Hodgson took part in non-contact training on Tuesday as he recovers from a shoulder knock sustained against Scotland on Saturday.
Lancaster will announce his squad to face Italy on Thursday.
