Stuart Lancaster has confirmed that he has applied for the full-time England head coach position following his side's first win of their Six Nations campaign.
The interim coach, who has been open about his desire to become England's permanent boss, had to get stitches after accidentally punching a light fitting in celebration of Charlie Hodgson's try in the second half of his side's 13-6 win over Scotland.
"My application has gone in," said Lancaster. "To take the head coaching job of England and to get the first win was the greatest feeling I have had in rugby."
England take on Italy this Saturday in their second fixture of the Six Nations.
