David Strettle angry over try decision

England's David Strettle criticises the match officials who failed to award what he believes was a good try in the dying moments of yesterday's Six Nations clash with Wales.

David Strettle has criticised the match officials who failed to award what he believes was a good try in the dying moments of yesterday's Six Nations clash with Wales.

The non-award of the try meant that Wales snatched a 19-12 victory thanks to Scott Williams's late try.

Had television official Iain Ramage awarded Strettle's try then England would have had the chance to level the game by converting.

However, Ramage felt the video evidence was inconclusive and decided not to give England the benefit of the doubt, a decision that left Strettle confused.

"I felt the ball touch the floor," said the 28-year-old. "If it is inconclusive you have to go with the attacking team.

"When they showed it on the big screen it looked like it went down as well.

"The strange thing for me was that I was hoping the touch judge might have seen it because our physio was standing right next to him and he says it was grounded."

Victory for Wales saw them clinch the triple crown and they still have hopes of also claiming a Six Nations grand slam.
