Defending Heineken Cup champions Toulon kicked their way to victory over Exeter Chiefs, beating the English side 14-9 this afternoon.
Florian Fresia gave the visitors an early lead, scoring a try just three minuets into the match, but Gareth Steenson added two penalties to put Exeter ahead, before Henry Slade took over kicking duties to add three more points.
Matt Giteau put the French side back in front 15 minutes from full time before Jonny Wilkinson extended their lead with a drop goal in the 74th minute.
The Chiefs pushed late on as they looked for a match-winning try, but the Toulon defence held firm to prevent the hosts from scoring in the second half.
The result moves Toulon to the top of pool two, while Exeter drop to third.
