Already-qualified Exeter Chiefs ended the European Rugby Challenge Cup group stage on a high note with a 42-point victory over Bayonne this evening.
The Chiefs had sewn up top spot in Pool 2 after four wins in their first five games and showcased their credentials for a strong run in the knockouts with a 45-3 success.
An early Jack Nowell try and two penalties from Henry Slade meant that Bayonne were still in the game at half time, but they fell apart in the second 40.
The Chiefs scored five more tries through Matt Jess, Dave Ewers, Carl Rimmer, Kai Horstmann and Dean Mumm, with Martin Bustos Moyano's penalty the only points that Bayonne could muster.
