Chris Robshaw shrugs off criticism

Chris Robshaw is adamant that hard work will justify his selection as England captain.

Chris Robshaw has dismissed speculation about his place as England captain and has insisted that criticism regarding his performances is not a new problem.

Robshaw's place was brought into question after Harlequins were beaten by Saracens 39-0 in his second club game of the season, and the 28-year-old was outplayed by fellow openside Will Fraser.

However, England's current number seven refuses to get downhearted by negative comments and believes that hard work on the pitch will alter opinions.

Robshaw told PA Sport: "It's been no different from year to year. In fact it's been pretty similar for me for the past three seasons.

"The fact I've been through it before helps. After you've been through it a couple of times your shoulders get broader and you surround yourself with good people.

"There's no magic formula to this type of stuff. You crack on and work hard and you improve your game."

Robshaw scored a try in Quins's 26-23 victory over London Wasps on Saturday.
