Ulster coach Brian McLaughlin described his side's win over Munster as "probably the biggest day" of his career as they booked their place in the Heineken Cup semi-finals.

A 22-16 win at Thomond Park has set up a last four tie at home to Edinburgh as the Irish club look to win the competition for the second time in their history.

"It was a big highlight in my career, probably the biggest day in my life in rugby terms," said McLaughlin.

"It is also important to mention the impact and energy we gleaned from our fans in the stadium. The support was outstanding.

"Today is the culmination of three years' really hard work. We have been emphasising the whole way through the importance of getting Ulster up the ladder and getting to that top table."

Despite the satisfaction of reaching the latter stages of the cup, McLaughlin was quick to emphasise the threat that he expects Edinburgh to pose at the Aviva Stadium at the end of the month.

"We are not there yet," he added. "We are under no illusions. Edinburgh showed in their quarter-final win over Toulouse what they can do and it is all set up for another magnificent semi-final."

Ulster will take on Edinburgh in Dublin on Saturday, April 28.
