Ireland scrum-half Eoin Reddan will spend the next three months on the sidelines because of a broken leg.
The 32-year-old suffered the injury during his side's 13-13 draw with France in the Six Nations at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday.
Reddan fell awkwardly beneath a tackle in the final minute of the match and had to be given oxygen before being carried off.
Lock Donnacha Ryan damaged a shoulder and centre Luke Marshall suffered concussion in the match and now both are doubts for their game against Italy next Saturday.
