Leicester Tigers have appealed the nine-match ban given to director of rugby Richard Cockerill following May's Aviva Premiership final.
Cockerill was punished for confronting the fourth official during the Tigers' 37-17 victory over Northampton Saints at Twickenham Stadium.
"Leicester Tigers today gave notice of appeal against the nine-match suspension imposed on director of rugby Richard Cockerill following his exchange with fourth official Stuart Terheege during the 2013 Aviva Premiership final," read an official statement from the club.
"Details of the staging of the appeal, which is against the sanction only, will be released in due course."
Leicester begin the defence of their title at home to Worcester Warriors on August 8.
