Newcastle Falcons have secured their first win in five games, beating London Irish 19-10 at the Kingston Park this afternoon.
Falcons fly-half Jimmy Gopperth and Irish sensation Tom Homer exchanged a penalty apiece in the opening minutes, before the latter converted Sailosi Tagicakibau's try to extend their lead.
Gopperth struck for the home side shortly before the break by adding a drop goal to his tally and reducing the deficit to four points.
Continuing the comeback after the break, Gopperth kicked his second penalty of the afternoon to take his total to nine points.
Ryan Shortland crossed over the line to complete the comeback and launch the hosts in front for the first time in more than an hour. Gopperth's conversion and ensuing penalty extended their lead to nine points in the final five minutes.
