Ryan Jones has said that he hopes to prove to Wales coach Warren Gatland that he deserves a place in his World Cup squad.
The forward, who has captained Wales to a Grand Slam as well as touring with the British and Irish Lions, missed the 2007 tournament in France due to injury and is desperate to make September's trip to New Zealand.
"I would dearly love to be there," said the 30-year-old from Wales's training camp in Poland.
"A World Cup would be a new thing for me and it's something every international rugby player wants to experience.
"It's one of the boxes I'm yet to tick and I'm going to do everything in my power, personally, to try to make sure I'm there.
"I know New Zealand is a great place to play rugby. I've toured there with the Lions."
Coach Gatland will name his 30-man squad for the World Cup on August 22.
