Saracens have confirmed that hooker Schalk Brits will be out of action until the New Year with a serious knee injury.
The South African suffered ligament damage on Saturday during his side's victory over Clermont Auvergne in the European Rugby Champions Cup.
Saracens head of medicine Joe Collins told the club's official website: "Schalk is due to have surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) and will then commence rehabilitation with the club's medical staff."
Sarries are back in European action on Friday when they travel to Munster.
