Mark McCall has insisted that Saracens were "magnificent" in their European Rugby Champions Cup semi-final, despite losing to Clermont Auvergne.
The Aviva Premiership side were just in front at half time, but Wesley Fofana scored the only try of the match early in the second half to set up the 13-9 victory for the French club.
Sarries director of rugby McCall told BBC Sport: "I thought the effort and many, many aspects of the performance were phenomenal.
"We made Clermont play a game that they didn't really want to play. The game was on a knife-edge all the way through.
"We made maybe a few too many errors at crucial times, but in terms of the big things that we judge ourselves on, we were magnificent."
Clermont will face the winner of the match between Toulon and Leinster in next month's final.
