Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell insists that there was "no intent" in his high tackle on Bath's Anthony Watson in the Aviva Premiership final.

Owen Farrell has insisted that there was "no intent" in his tackle on Anthony Watson in the Aviva Premiership final.

The Bath full-back was forced off with a head injury in the second minute of the clash at Twickenham on Saturday.

The Saracens fly-half went in high on Watson, catching him on the side of the neck, leading to debate over whether Farrell should have been allowed to remain on the pitch.

Speaking after the match, the England international told reporters: "There was no intent from me. I feel bad that he had to go off but there was not intent from me. There never is in that situation.

"These things happen. I spoke to him after and said sorry."

Farrell scored the opening try in the 28-16 victory, which gave Saracens their second title in five seasons.
