Toulon have opened their Heineken Cup campaign with a comfortable 37-16 victory over fellow French side Montpellier at the Stade Mayol.
Lilian Perreaux and Jonny Wilkinson exchanged penalties in the early stages before Pierrick Gunther touched down for Toulon's first try of the night.
Another Wilkinson penalty was added to with a try from Bakkies Botha as the hosts went in 18-3 ahead at the break.
Delon Armitage went over twice in the second half to extend the home side's lead, while Perreaux and Benoit Paillaugue kicked over two more penalties for Montpellier.
Mamuka Gorgodze scored a consolation try for the visitors, but Toulon had the final say when Mathieu Bastareaud came off the bench before going over.
