Sam Warburton: 'Nobody's place in Wales team is safe'

Wales captain Sam Warburton says that he and his teammates should never "feel safe" about holding on to their places in Warren Gatland's Six Nations side.

Wales captain Sam Warburton has urged the senior players in the team to avoid the complacency that has blighted their Six Nations campaign to date when they face France on Friday evening.

The Red Dragons are bidding for a third straight title, but have been unimpressive so far, recording a slender win over Italy before being thrashed in Ireland a fortnight ago.

Wales coach Warren Gatland has warned that some players are on their "last chance" on the international stage, and Warburton has called on his colleagues to play like that is the case at the Millennium Stadium.

"I don't think anybody should feel safe in a Welsh jersey," Warburton told reporters. "The message from the coaches is play every Welsh game like it could be your last.

"So I don't think anybody should feel safe in a Welsh jersey, which is the best way to be. You want to go out playing with a little bit of that nervousness and a bit of fear, really, because that's what brings you out.

"When you get backed into a corner you should come out fighting and I think that's the way all players should respond."

France have won both of their 2014 Six Nations matches so far, beating England and Italy.
