Mark Williams has been fined £3,000 for remarks he made about Sheffield's Crucible Theatre ahead of this year's World Championship.
The former world champion described the venue as a "s***hole" via the social network, adding that he would "rather play in Pontins".
He originally wrote: "World Championships just around the corner. Shame it's played in the Crucible, s***hole, hopefully it will be in China soon."
Governing body World Snooker found Williams guilty of improper conduct and bringing the game into disrepute at a recent hearing.
He was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay £1,000 towards the cost of the disciplinary hearing.
Williams crashed out of this year's tournament in the second round, losing to eventual winner Ronnie O'Sullivan.
