Emily Seebohm has continued Australia's remarkable success in the pool at the Commonwealth Games with victory in the women's 50m backstroke final.
Seebohm touched the wall in a time of 27.78s in front of a raucous home crowd at the Optus Aquatics Centre to win the host nation's 22nd swimming gold medal of the Games so far.
The 25-year-old held off competition from Canadian Kylie Masse, who won gold in the 100m and 200m backstroke but was forced to settle for silver on this occasion.
A strong field also included the reigning champion and Games record holder in the shape of Wales's Georgia Davies, who finished third to win her fourth Commonwealth medal and equal her showing from Delhi eight years ago.
Australia's Holly Barratt narrowly missed out on a place on the podium, while the Scottish trio Cassie Wild, Kathleen Dawson and Lucy Hope finished fifth, sixth and eighth respectively.
