England swimmer Alice Tai has been pipped to the gold medal in the S9 100m freestyle event at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
The 19-year-old, who picked up gold in the S9 backstroke on Friday, looked set for another top-of-the-podium finish tonight but was overtaken at the last by Australia's Lakeisha Patterson.
Tai was third going into the split but rallied to take the lead as the finish approached, only for world-record holder Patterson to edge ahead with a time of 1:03.02 - just 0.05 seconds ahead of Tai.
Australia also claimed bronze as Ellie Cole edged out teammate Emily Beecroft by 0.4 seconds.
Scotland's Toni Shaw came in fifth, with Canadian trio Katarina Roxon, Abigail Tripp and Morgan Bird bringing up the rear.
