Europe's finest have just concluded two weeks of gripping action at the 2024 European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade, where medals were handed out across 74 different events in four disciplines.

Taking place just a matter of weeks before the Paris Olympics kick off, many a household name was missing from the competition as far as Great Britain were concerned, with none of Adam Peaty, Tom Daley or Tom Dean featuring.

However, plenty of Brits still forced their way into the podium places from June 10 to June 23, where GB took home medals in diving, swimming and artistic swimming, only failing to win any in the open water swimming events.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at how many medals the Brits won at the Europeans and which areas the nation excelled in over the course of two weeks in Serbia.

Triple champion Desharne Bent-Ashmeil leads the way in diving

In total, Great Britain left the Europeans with 16 medals to shout about - five of which were gold, as well as four silvers and seven bronzes - putting them joint-fourth in the overall standings alongside Germany.

Hungary blew the competition out of the water with a staggering 31 medals, while Greece and Italy shared second place with 20 apiece, and Poland just edged out the Brits with 18 to their name.

GB's five golds, meanwhile, was the joint-fourth highest in the competition, slightly below Greece's six and Spain's seven, while the Hungarians clinched a staggering 12 European titles.

Four of GB's five crowns came in the diving events - an unrivalled tally - where 19-year-old Desharne Bent-Ashmeil became a triple European champion in the women's 3m springboard and springboard synchro - with Amy Rollinson - and the mixed 3m springboard synchro with Ben Cutmore.

Robbie Lee also stormed to the title in the men's 10m platform, an event in which Cutmore also claimed the bronze, the same medal he won in the men's 10m synchro with Euan McCabe.

Fleur Lewis wins GB's only swimming medals

A former Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Matthew Dixon completed GB's diving haul with a bronze in the men's 3m springboard, and another seven medals were won in the artistic swimming events.

Ranjuo Tomblin was crowned the European champion in the solo free routine, in addition to nabbing the silver in the solo technical routine and taking two mixed duet bronzes with Beatrice Crass.

Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe - who competed for GB at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics - also won a pair of silver in the women's duet routines, and the team of Eleanor Blinkhorn, Florence Blinkhorn, Lily Halasi, Holly Hughes, Sophie Rowney, Robyn Swatman, Amelie Williams and Eve Young placed third behind Italy and Greece.

Finally, only three swimming medals were clinched by GB, all of which were won by 20-year-old Fleur Lewis, who placed second in the 400m and 800m freestyle in addition to a 1500m freestyle bronze. body check tags ::
