Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall's hopes of Commonwealth Games gold have come to an end following a 3-1 loss against Singapore in the men's doubles semi-finals.
The Team England duo looked down and out at 2-0, but they managed to pull a game back only for Singapore to show their class and take the match.
A tight opening to the contest saw Gao Ning and Hu Li eventually prevail 12-10 having missed two game points at the Scotstoun Sports Campus in Glasgow.
England put in a gutsy performance in the second game only for Singapore to once more edge it 11-9 having missed three game points.
It looked to be all over, but some ferocious hitting earned England a comfortable 11-3 win in the third game, yet any hopes of a comeback were short-lived.
Despite saving five match points, the English resistance could not be sustained and Singapore took the game and match to progress through to the final where they will face India.
Pitchford and Drinkhall, meanwhile, will now face Singapore's second pairing for a bronze medal.
