Jade Jones has claimed Great Britain's first ever Olympic taekwondo gold medal with a superb performance in the women's 57kg final.
Jones was made to work hard by China's Hou Yuzhou but eventually earned victory.
A tentative opening saw neither woman register a point in the first round.
Jones pressed in the second and earned a penalty point from the referee, going on to score an attack to take a 2-0 lead into the final round.
Hou tried to mount a comeback but Jones picked her off on the counter with precision accuracy, taking a 5-1 lead with a minute left on the clock.
Jones managed to defend a late barrage to take the title by six points to four.
