Novak Djokovic has revealed that being unfamiliar with opponent Andrey Kuznetsov ensured that he produced an "alert" performance in the Australian Open second round.
The four-time Melbourne winner dropped just five games in a superb display on the Rod Laver Arena, and the top seed admitted that the pair's first meeting meant that he avoided any complacency against the world number 88.
The 27-year-old told Eurosport: "I felt like I executed the gameplan very well. I haven't seen Andrey play very often, which is more or less the same situation that I had in the first round, so that made me more alert.
"I already had a match under my belt on the Rod Laver Arena so that helped top, but I felt that it was a great performance."
Djokovic will now play either Fernando Verdasco or Go Soeda in the third round.
