Three-time Australian Open champion Mats Wilander believes that Novak Djokovic still has the mark of Andy Murray.

The 48-year-old, who won a total of seven Grand Slam titles during his career, said that the Scot's victory at last year's US Open will count for little if they meet in the final in Melbourne.

Murray prevailed over the Serb in five sets at Flushing Meadows to win the first major title of his career.

However, Wilander has suggested that the world number one was not at his best in New York.

"Djokovic does have the edge," Wilander told Reuters. "It's really hard to say what happened at the US Open. Novak looked like he was thinking, 'It's windy, I'm really not enjoying this as much as I should, I'm not playing that well, it's Monday.'

"I'm not saying he did this intentionally, but there are matches in your career where you can't cope with how you feel.

"I don't know how big a deal that match was... I don't think this final means anything on paper except that Murray has one grand slam."

Wilander also won the French Open three times and the US Open once.
