Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has booked his place in the third round of the Australian Open with a straight-sets victory over Thomaz Bellucci.
The Frenchman will face the winner between Gilles Simon and Marin Cilic for a place in the fourth round in Melbourne.
After racing into a 4-1 lead in the first set, the 10th seed lost concentration and his serve. He was taken to a tie-breaker, but went on to clinch a one-set lead by winning 8-6.
The soaring temperatures in Melbourne forced tournament organisers to implement the 'extreme heat rule', which meant that the roof over Hisense Arena was closed before the start of the second set.
Tsonga adapted better to energy-sapping conditions by taking the second 6-4 in 41 minutes, before Bellucci completely unraveled in the third.
The 28-year-old went unpunished for a few sloppy errors on his way to sealing a 7-6[6] 6-4 6-4 victory.
