Former British number one Tim Henman says that Rafael Nadal "is still the man to beat" at the French Open.

Former British number one Tim Henman has insisted that Rafael Nadal "is still the man to beat" at the French Open this year.

The Spaniard has made a low-key start to the tournament, but Henman is confident that the seven-time champion will triumph once more.

"Nadal is looking as good as ever. His form has been pretty ordinary in the first week of the French but as we say you can't win the tournament in the first week, but you can certainly lose it," Henman told BBC Sport.

"As he's done before, he will go through the gears and will get better and better. He is still the man to beat. He has only ever lost once in eight years, he has won the tournament on seven occasions.

"He has the most phenomenal record, he is the best court player to have ever played the game so it's going to take an amazing performance to beat him at Roland Garros."

Nadal faces Kei Nishikori in the fourth round on Monday.
