Kei Nishikori has admitted that he is "very happy" with his second-round victory over Thomaz Bellucci at the French Open.
The fifth seed edged closer to the quarter-finals at Roland Garros on Wednesday thanks to a three-set triumph over the Brazilian.
Waiting for the Japanese in round three will be Benjamin Becker.
"I'm feeling really good [about my first] two matches and winning three straight sets against a tough player like Thomaz," Nishikori is quoted as saying by the ATP's official website. "I'm very happy to be going to the next round.
"This year I'm feeling comfortable and very confident, and my body is good. [My] mentality is also good, so I'm very focused. I hope to try to do well here, and let's see what happens."
Nishikori suffered a first-round defeat to Martin Klizan at last year's French Open.
