David Ferrer remains in contention for the French Open title after securing a 6-2 6-3 6-2 victory over Simone Bolelli.
Bolelli came closest to grabbing the first break of serve in the opening set, but Ferrer was able to swing the momentum in his favour by saving the point.
The Spaniard pushed his opponent to the limit and eventually earned the first break of serve, before holding and grabbing another break to take the set.
Games continued by way of serve in the early stages of the second set, but once again, when it mattered Ferrer broke to give himself the advantage and take a two-set lead.
Bolelli had a mountain to climb, but it was a poor start for him in the third set when he lost his opening service game.
Despite Bolelli coming close to breaking back, Ferrer was able to hold out and eventually secure another break point to push on and wrap up the match.
