Feliciano Lopez is through to the third round of the BNP Paribas Open after a hard-fought three-set victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
The Spaniard served 13 aces in the opening set, but was forced to save four break points before eventually losing the it 7-6.
Lopez looked in danger of exiting the tournament at Indian Wells before grinding out the second set 6-4.
After just over two hours and 20 minutes in the Southern Californian heat, he broke Roger-Vasselin again to seal a dramatic comeback and progress to round three.
He will meet Pablo Cuevas, who himself needed three sets to beat Jarkko Nieminen.
