Gilles Simon is through to the fourth round of Indian Wells after recording a 6-4 6-4 win over Stanislas Wawrinka.
The first set went with serve until the ninth game, when the Frenchman took advantage of some poor Wawrinka play.
Simon then served out comfortably to claim the first set and continued his good form into the second, breaking in the opening game.
With the score at deuce, the world number thirteen produced two powerful forehands to break the Swiss's serve once again.
He then broke again in game five and even when Warwrinka broke back, he showed the composure to take the second set by the same scoreline that he won the first.
Simon will face either Ryan Harrison or Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the last 16.
