British number one Heather Watson survived a spirited comeback from Camila Giorgi to clinch a place in the third round at Indian Wells this evening.
In a closely-fought first set, the world number 43 made the most of a run of double faults from the Italian to get a break on the board at 5-5, before holding her nerve to serve out the set.
Watson appeared to be cruising to a spot in the third round as she raced to a 5-0 lead in the second set.
However, the 29th seed dug deep as the Briton served for the match, managing to find the sideline to get a game back before winning four in a row and getting the set back on serve.
Watson responded though, attacking Giorgi's serve again to give herself a fourth chance to serve for the match, and this time she saw it out to make it through to the next round.
